There are two ways to “remove” an invoice, and they are very different. Choose based on whether you need to keep a record.
Write Off — cancel but keep the record. Use this when an invoice will not be paid (for example, a bad debt) but you want it to stay in your history. On a sent or late invoice, open More Actions → Write Off Invoice, add optional Notes explaining why, and click Write off Invoice. The invoice moves to the Written-off status, keeps all its history, and stops accruing reminders and late fees. It is reversible: Re-open Invoice takes it back to a draft.
Delete — remove permanently. Use this only for invoices created in error. Open the invoice and choose More Actions → Delete, then confirm.
- Deleting is permanent and also removes the invoice’s payment records and history.
- You can delete several invoices at once using Bulk Actions on the Overview tab (see 6.2).
Note: Because deleting an invoice also erases any recorded payments and its history, Write Off is the safer choice whenever you need an audit trail. Delete only when an invoice should never have existed.
