A service route is the recurring visit — usually weekly — that keeps a client’s pool clean and balanced. Service routes repeat by day of the week. Jobs are separate: they are one-off work on a specific date.
Before you build a route you need:
- A technician to assign — that can be you. Invited team members can be assigned too, even while they are still Pending.
- Clients and properties, each with a Service Frequency other than Only Jobs (Part 1).
The Routes page at a glance
Click Routes in the left-hand menu, under Work Management.
- Day buttons (Mon–Sun) — show one day’s stops on the map.
- Unassigned / Assigned — show properties without, or with, a technician on their route.
- OPTIMIZE — opens the Routes Optimizer.
- Line Mode — draw straight lines between stops, the actual driving path (Nav Mode), or No Lines.
- Gear icon — route configuration, such as fuel cost and toll preferences.
- Technicians list — each tech’s color, a Manage Routes link, and the stop count. Tick a tech’s box to show only their stops. The ⋯ menu next to a tech offers Optimize Routes, Move Routes, Delete Routes and Quick Routes.
Method 1: Add stops one at a time (best for your first route)
- Click Manage Routes under the technician. A window opens with their whole week.
- Click the day card you want to build. It turns blue.
- Click Add Route. The header reads Adding routes for [day].
- In Choose client and property…, search for the property and select it.
- Click Add. The stop is added to the end of the day’s list.
- Repeat for each property on that day, then click Close.
Note: If the property is already on another technician’s route for that day, PSS asks whether to move it to this technician.
Method 2: Quick Routes™ — assign a whole neighborhood by drawing
Quick Routes lets you assign a group of properties to a technician by drawing a shape on the map — the fastest way to lay out a new schedule.
- Click ⋯ next to the technician and select Quick Routes. A drawing toolbar appears on the left edge of the map.
- Pick a drawing tool: polygon (the pencil), rectangle or circle.
- Draw around the properties you want. The Properties Selected counter shows how many are inside your shape. Use Clear Drawing to start over.
- Check the Assign To technician and pick the Service Day.
- Click Save Route.
- If the technician already has stops that day, choose Add to Existing or Overwrite, then confirm.
Note: Unless you choose Add to Existing, PSS optimizes the day’s stop order for you as part of the save. Click Cancel to leave Quick Routes without saving.
Putting the stops in the right order
In Manage Routes, click OPTIMIZE LIST to preview the most efficient driving order from the technician’s starting address, then click Save Optimized Route to apply it. You can also drag a stop by its ≡ handle to move it by hand — even after optimizing.
Changing a route later
- Move one stop — in Manage Routes, click ⋯ on the stop card, choose Edit, and change the technician, day or stop number.
- Move a whole day — click ⋯ next to the technician and choose Move Routes. Pick the From and To technician and days, then choose Permanent or Temporary (a temporary move returns on its end date — handy for vacation cover).
- Pause a stop — click ⋯ on the stop card and choose Pause Service. To pause every route a property or client has, click its marker on the map and use ⋯ → Pause Property or Pause Client.
