A service route is the recurring visit — typically weekly — that your technicians run to keep a client’s pool clean, balanced, and healthy. A well-built route lets your team spend less time driving and more time servicing pools.
A typical service-route visit includes:
- Skimming debris
- Checking and balancing water chemistry
- Cleaning skimmer and pump baskets
- General water maintenance
The exact tasks performed on each visit are governed by Task Views (Readings, Dosages and Checklist — see Configure Task Views and Visit Messages in section 2.2) and can be tailored per property.
Service routes are managed separately from Jobs, which are covered in section 3. The key difference:
- Service route — recurring visit (every 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks) for ongoing maintenance, scheduled by day of the week and assigned to one technician per day.
- Job — one-off or multi-day work like repairs, equipment swaps, or renovations, scheduled by specific date.
A property can have both — a service route running on the same day a Job is scheduled. PSS sequences the two stops on the technician’s day for you: a job is slotted after a given route stop number, and the Manage Routes list shows both in the order the tech will drive them.
In PSS terms, a service route is one property, on one weekday, for one technician. A property serviced on Tuesday and Friday therefore has two service routes, and each can be assigned to a different technician.
Note: The Routes page is available to Admin and Manager roles. Technicians work their routes from the mobile app (section 2.9).
