Notification Preferences is where you tailor notifications to your business—both how you personally receive them and, for administrators, who receives each type. You reach it from the user menu in the top-left corner: click your name and company at the top of the left menu, then choose Notifications Preferences.
The page has two tabs: My Notifications and Allowed Recipients. Both group every notification type under the same headings—My Work, General, Service Routes, Jobs, Missed Work, Clients, Client Reviews, Shopping Items, Extra Items, Equipment, and Control Center Notifications—and each row names the event and explains, in plain language, when it fires.
9.11.1 My Notifications (your channels)
The My Notifications tab controls how you receive each type of notification. For every event, you choose the channels you want it delivered on:
- Web — shows the notification in the Notifications page and the bell drop-down.
- Mobile — sends it to the PSS mobile app as a push notification.
Tick or untick a box to turn that channel on or off for that event. Changes save as soon as you make them—there’s no separate Save button.
Which groups you see depends on your role:
- Technicians see only My Work—the events about their own assignments and stops.
- Company Admins and Company Managers see every group except My Work.
- Someone who is both a technician and an admin or manager sees every group, with My Work first.
Note: These settings are personal to your account. Turning off Mobile for Job Visit Completed, for example, stops your own push notifications for that event without affecting anyone else. Most event types start switched off on both channels until you turn them on—see 9.12 for the list of events that are on out of the box.
9.11.2 Allowed Recipients (who gets notified)
The Allowed Recipients tab is where an administrator decides who at the company can receive each notification type. For every event, you assign the roles or individual team members who should get it:
- Click the recipients box for an event (it reads Select recipients to activate this notification while empty) to open the selector. A Search… box at the top narrows a long team list.
- Choose by role—Admins, Managers, Techs, Property Manager, or Assigned Tech—or pick individual team members by name. You can combine several.
- Selected recipients appear as removable chips; click the × on a chip to remove one.
The roles mean:
- Admins — everyone with the Company Admin role.
- Managers — everyone with the Company Manager role.
- Techs — everyone with the Technician role.
- Property Manager — the manager assigned to the property the event is about (the Manager field on the property; see Section 1). Events with no property—a client edit or a failed invoice payment, for example—have no Property Manager to notify.
- Assigned Tech — the technician the job, service route, or shopping item is assigned to.
Assigning a recipient to an event is what activates that notification for those people. Leaving an event with no recipients means no one is set up to receive it. Changes save as soon as you make them.
Note: Events under My Work are meant for the Assigned Tech—the technician whose own work triggered them. If you add other recipients to a My Work event, PSS warns you in red that My Work notifications are personal to the assigned technician. Other recipients will receive messaging intended for the tech.
Note: The Allowed Recipients tab appears only for Company Admins; Company Managers and Technicians see the My Notifications tab alone. Whether someone then actually receives a notification—and on which channel—also depends on their own My Notifications settings (9.11.1) and on whether they’ve unfollowed the specific record (9.5).
