A Job is a specific piece of work you schedule for a client — anything that is not a service route visit. Use Jobs for repairs, equipment swaps, renovations, one-off cleans, inspections, and any custom service.
Two dimensions describe every job:
- Duration — Single Day or Multiple Days. A multi-day job spans a date range and produces one Work Tracker entry per day. (Recurring Jobs add a third choice, Multiple Days (Pattern), covered in section 3.5.)
- Recurrence — One-time or Recurring. A Recurring Job is a template that automatically generates new job instances at a configured interval (monthly, yearly, every N days).
Jobs differ from Service Routes (covered in section 2) in three important ways:
- Jobs are scheduled by specific date, not on a recurring weekday.
- Jobs are typically billed as line items (services, parts, labor) on their own invoice. Service Routes roll up into a recurring monthly invoice.
- Jobs can be sent to the customer as a Quote for approval before the work is performed.
A property can have a Job scheduled on the same day a Service Route runs — PSS sequences both kinds of stops on the technician’s route automatically.
Job statuses
Every job carries one status, shown as a colored badge on job cards, in the Job List, and as a large stamp on the Job Details view:
- Requested — a job request submitted by a technician from the mobile app that the office has not yet processed. It leaves this status as soon as the office sends a quote, marks it approved, or saves it.
- Draft — the job exists but has no scheduled date and technician yet (for example, a quote you have not committed to the calendar).
- Scheduled — the job has a date and an assigned technician.
- Missed — a scheduled day passed without being marked done. A missed job stays open and can still be completed or rescheduled; the label is a warning, not a final state.
- Done — all days of the job are complete.
- Cancelled — the job was closed without being performed.
Filters also group these as Open (Requested, Draft, Scheduled, Missed) and Closed (Done, Cancelled).
